Privacy Policy

TrailWeight is built to respect your privacy. This policy explains what data the app handles and how. In short: TrailWeight has no account, no servers of our own, and no third-party analytics or tracking. Your data stays on your device and in your private iCloud.

Data you create

TrailWeight stores the information you enter — gear items (name, weight, category, notes, optional purchase link, optional photo), pack lists, trips, and weight-history snapshots. This data is kept on your device and, if you are signed into iCloud, synced through Apple's CloudKit to your own private iCloud account.

Where your data is stored

• On your device, in the app's local database.
• In your private iCloud (via Apple CloudKit) so it syncs across your own devices signed into the same Apple ID. This data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. The developer cannot access it.

We do not operate any server that receives or stores your TrailWeight data.

No account, no tracking

There is no sign-up or login. TrailWeight contains no third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs, and does not collect a device identifier or profile you. We do not sell or share your data, because we never receive it.

Network requests

TrailWeight only makes network requests when you actively use these optional features:

• Barcode & product lookup. When you scan a barcode or search a product name, the app queries the public Open Products Facts database to fetch product details. Only the barcode or search text you provide is sent.
• Gear link preview. If you add a purchase URL to a gear item, the app may fetch that page to read basic details (such as a title) you can use. Only the URL you entered is requested.

These requests are not used to identify you, and no personal account information is attached to them.

Camera and photos

If you choose to scan a barcode or attach a photo to a gear item, the app asks for Camera and/or Photo Library permission. Photos you add are stored with your gear data (on device and in your iCloud) and are not uploaded anywhere else.

Purchases

TrailWeight does not currently offer in-app purchases or subscriptions. Should that change, payments would be handled entirely by Apple under Apple's terms; we would not receive your payment details.

Children's privacy

TrailWeight is a general-audience app and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the date above and post the revised version on this page.
